The marine fish fauna occurring in El Salvador corresponds to a Biogeographic area known as Tropical Easter Pacific, and specifically the Panamic Province. This area contains high levels of endemic species and we are sure that in the Pacific waters of El Salvador there is a lot to go!
On the other hand, freshwater fauna is included within the Nuclear Central America Region. The number of freshwater species in considered low in comparison with the rest of Central America, (Nicaragua, Costa Rica and Panama) but I believe there are many interesting evolutionary factors triggering speciation that will give us surprises if we look with a detailed eye. Keep track on the news and post and we will tell you the top of the line information about what is going here.
